About the Program

The mental health service at Cheyenne VAMC provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being.

Services Offered

Mental health services provided at Cheyenne VAMC include treatments for —

  • depression, sadness, grief
  • anxiety, worry, nervousness
  • addictive behaviors
  • substance abuse
  • relationship problems
  • stress from medical problems and/or pain
  • post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • military sexual trauma (MST)
  • emotional problems, such as managing anger
  • vocational issues
  • troublesome thoughts or ideas
  • violent thoughts of harming self or others
  • insomnia, inadequate sleep
  • health psychology consultation, end-of-life care, chronic health conditions
  • confused thinking
  • aggressive or self-harming behaviors
  • memory problems

We also provide a wide range of services to homeless veterans meeting immediate and long term needs. Additionally, the Cheyenne VA's mental health program operates a Medical Foster Home Program. The Medical Foster Program (MFH) is a great option to long-term care for eligible Veterans, read more about MFH here.

Mental health services are confidential. We will not talk to anyone about information you share unless you give written consent. Under federal law, a few exceptions to this rule exist. If you have questions, please ask your mental health consultant.
